TRAVEL LETTER 1

WELCOME TO SITGES – A PEARL ON THE MEDITERRANEAN COAST

The stage is set. In three months, Sitges will be the setting for three exciting days filled with professional inspiration – but above all with social gatherings and shared experiences we will not soon forget.

Sitges, home to around 33,000 residents, is a charming coastal town located 35 km southwest of Barcelona along the Costa de Garraf – a spectacular landscape between the Mediterranean Sea and the Garraf cliffs. The town is known for its quality of life, cultural diversity, and not least its vibrant gastronomic scene.

Sitges’ history stretches far back in time, with archaeological findings showing continuous settlement since ancient times. During the Roman era, Sitges served as an important trading and maritime hub thanks to its natural harbour. In the Middle Ages, the town grew as a fishing village and trading centre, and in the 19th century it gradually developed into a cultural hub for artists and the bohemian community. In the 20th century, Sitges gained international fame with its “Fantastic Film Festival.

The programme is still being finalized, but one thing we know for certain: we will be free as birds and take to the skies in a hot air balloon.

What we need to know from you now, and no later than XX MMM, is:

  • Whether you will be attending

  • Your full name, including passport details

  • Whether you would like to join the hot air balloon flight and, if so, your height and weight

  • Whether you would prefer to fly from another airport in Europe instead of Copenhagen

  • Any allergies or dietary

We look forward to spending some wonderful days together in Sitges, a picturesque town with medieval charm on the shores of the Mediterranean.

Best travel regards

REGISTRATION AND INFORMATION

  • We will all be staying at:

    Hotel Calipolis – 4*
    Av. Sofia, 2, 6, 08870 Sitges

The hotel is located in the heart of the historic town, right on the shores of the Mediterranean. It features a small pool and a fitness centre.

We have booked a single room for all.

You can read more about the hotel here.

  • We will be flying with Norwegian Airlines.

    D83556, 15 June, Copenhagen – Barcelona, 09:00–11:55
    D83557, 18 June, Barcelona – Copenhagen, 12:40–15:35

  • If you would like to depart from another airport in Europe instead of Copenhagen, please indicate your preferred departure airport in the registration form. Within 24 hours, you will be contacted by our organiser with the available options for travelling to Barcelona.

  • The day starts early, as we want to catch the sunrise over the Garraf mountains, which means departure from the hotel at 5:30 am. The exact time will be confirmed the day before.

When we arrive at the balloon launch site, you will be assigned to your balloon. Each gondola typically holds around 10–15 people, depending on the weight of the participants. Before take-off, you are welcome to lend a hand in helping fill the balloon with hot air.

Then suddenly the magic happens – before you even reach ten, you are floating 100–200 metres above the ground.

The flight lasts about one hour, and after landing we return to the launch site where a brunch with Cava will be served.

  • Yes - approximately three weeks before departure, the final programme will be published here on the page, together with the remaining practical information about the trip.
